My name is Ellie Mestas and I am a passionate servant of the Lord with a heart for birth and adoption. I am a DONA and toLabor trained Birth Doula (certification pending) and am currently working on my Christian Childbirth Educator training with Cascade. I absolutely love assisting women throughout pregnancy and birth. I believe that birth is a natural process designed by our wise Creator and I believe it is a process that we can respect. Our bodies were made to birth babies! It is merely our job to work along with our bodies throughout the process. Adoption is one of the very closest things to my heart as 5 of my siblings were adopted. I was blessed to meet the birth mothers of most of my siblings and they are my heroes. Their courage and love for their children was astounding and left me inspired to be a blessing to the beautiful women who are facing similar circumstances. This journey is hard, but it is one filled with blessings along the way and it is a journey close to the Lord’s heart. His heart is for the hurting and the brokenhearted and He meets us at our point of need with grace. It is my hope and prayer that I will be an instrument in the Lord’s hands as He brings hope and healing to each mother walking this road of life.
I think my experience with the adoption of my 5 siblings when I was a teenager, equips me to minister to both parties. My family adopted twin 27wk preemie boys at age 7 weeks and brought home another set of twins and a toddler from Ethiopia three years later. Caring for 5 children under the age of 4 (from two different countries) was difficult yet a huge blessing at the same time. It was a blessing for me to be a vital part in caring for them and supporting my parents. I would LOVE to be a doula for either side of the adoption journey. Whether that be a birth doula throughout pregnancy and labor with the birth mother, or an adoption doula throughout the journey and transition with the adoptive family. New life and adoption are two things that are so close to the Lord’s heart and to mine. I know this is the calling that He has placed on my life.
